Alex Lavaee

Hey there! 👋🏼 I'm Alex, a data science undergrad @ BU. I'm currently an AI research intern @ Harvard Medical School (advised by Prof Tomas Kirchhausen) working on a 3D computer self-supervised representation learning model for understanding the molecular and cellular world. 🧬 I'm also a research assistant at the Image and Video Computing Group @ BU (advised by Prof Margrit Betke) where I am working on a 3D self-supervised representation learning model for understanding human motion. 🏃🏼‍♂️

Broadly, I'm interested in developing universal self-supervised learning approaches that discover meaningful patterns across different visual domains. 👁️

Previously, I interned as a SWE, MLE, and data scientist at Microsoft, Boeing, Edwards Lifesciences (where I developed an FDA processing model for severe aortic stenosis detection @ The Applied Machine Learning Group), and AI startups (including Themis AI, an MIT CSAIL spinoff backed by Prof Daniela Rus), gaining hands-on experience in developing scalable AI products. I'm passionate about driving innovation and making a meaningful impact through technology that benefits humanity. 🚀
